The refreshed Tropic Studio website is a great example of how a few thoughtful changes can completely revitalise a brand. While employed at Tropic Studio, I had the opportunity to lead the website refresh, including selecting the studio’s new brand colour.

The time had come to refresh Tropic Studio’s website and brand presence. We moved away from a scrapbook-like aesthetic that relied heavily on graphic elements, instead opting for a simplified user interface that let the work speak for itself.
Starting with a bold masthead, we placed the studio’s brand and service offering front and centre from the moment users landed on the website. It was during this stage, while designing the hero section in Figma, that I unintentionally set the direction for the studio’s new colour palette. I used my favourite colour as a placeholder, and it resonated so well that it became the foundation of the brand’s refreshed identity.
We introduced greater white space in the homepage portfolio grid and extended this minimal approach to content across the rest of the site, creating a cleaner and more user-friendly experience.
When updating the portfolio pages, we adapted each one to reflect the visual identity of the project being showcased, while also simplifying the hero sections for consistency and clarity.
Behind the scenes, we ensured the site was optimised for search engines, improved page load speeds, and implemented other performance enhancements to support both user experience and search visibility.
